Hello, after suffering a week with MAMEUI I decided to try Negatron and this is exactly what I was looking for: really well done.
My question is: is there any way to start computer emulation with the tape/cartrdige/disk already loaded?
When I start the Commodore 64 / ZX Spectrum / Amiga emulation, I can't load any software. I'm stuck at the opening screen.
Thanks.
Great front-end! Just one question.
Re: Great front-end! Just one question.
In the end Negatron is just a frontend for MAME and MAME tries to emulate machines as faithful as possible, sometimes with some fancy stuff to easy the user experience. What you're searching isn't one of those fancy stuff implemented in MAME. You may ask the MAME team to implement this kind of feature by asking them directly at https://forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads ... d=1&page=1.
Right now, if you want to launch a Commodore 64 game on tape, you must select the machine, then select the related game cassette and launch MAME. In MAME, you'll get the typical prompt screen of a Commodore 64. Type "LOAD" and Enter. When the message "Press play on tape" appears, type on "Scroll Lock" to exit Commodore 64 's keyboard emulation, type on Tab to access MAME's internal menus, go to "Tape Control", then press Enter after selecting "Play". The tape will load. Type again on "Scroll Lock" to re-enable Commodore 64's keyboard emulation, depending on the game, you may need to type the command "RUN" to actually play the game after loading.
For each kind of machines, it's own instructions. If you can get the MAME EXTRA file called sysinfo.dat, Negatron will display its content in the Information tab, giving you instructions on how to launch a game on the related emulated computer if you forgot how it works on the real computer.

Sorry form my late reply and thank you very much for the detailed instructions.
I suspected something like that. Very well, I'll do it the hard way.
