Re: Negamame not launching in Negatron

Post by Hallo »

I'm doing everything by the book :
- installed Negatron v0.100.1
- java version "17.0.2" 2022-01-18 LTS
- sdl 2.0.9
- NegaMAME-Mac64 0.240-1
- created name.ini in NegaMAME
- placed eg puckman.zip in roms folder Negamame (checked and the rom plays when launching Negamame in terminal )
- configured all the paths in Negatron
- dubble clicked the machine entry that corresponds with the rom name

- screens turns blanc and stays that way
- upon hitting return key i get the message that Negatron crashed and dialogbox as shown appears.

What am i missing in the long run ? I would really be joyfull to get this good piece of software working as this is the only front end that matters for mac users.

Hi there,

What is the kind of CPU your laptop is using? Is it Intel x86 or Apple M1 (ARM)? If you got Apple M1, it's probably why it doesn't work: Negatron is using JavaFX, a graphical library that has different declined versions following the CPU types. MAME and NegaMAME work on Apple M1 because they relies on graphical libraries available on the OS through SDL but Negatron is a self-contained application.

The thing is I don't have a Apple M1 mac here so I won't be able to make a M1-compatible version of Negatron without such a machine... At least, not easily.
