Support for 4K Videos?

Does Media Preview's thumbnailing work with 4K videos? I have about 8 4K videos in my testing on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit and when filling up the thumbnail cache it stops on the first 4K video I have.
Also in Windows Explorer it renders thumbnails for all videos up to that file. Is this a known issue? Ive tried it on the latest stable and beta versions.

If your 4K video files are encoded with HEVC/H265, it could not work. HEVC is a fairly recent industry standard so the implemented codecs in Media Preview aren't perfect yet. Can you send me one of your 4K video files so I can test myself and see if anything else is preventing MP to work?

I live in Australia so my upload speed to way too slow to upload a 5GB file.
The Media Info Summary can be found here though:

I think you're right about the files using HECV or similar.

Hum it says AVC as video codec, which is a derivative of H264 and should be well-supported by Media Preview.
So it should really work. But without a sample, I cannot see what's going wrong.
Can you try to extract a scene from one of those 4K video files? I think that Virtualdub should be able to cut out what's needed from your mp4 files.

Both "Crowd Runs" won't have their thumbnails generated with MP.

Thanks for the hint, but the download links don't work anymore.
It's really weird that the AVC encoded video doesn't work with MP while the HEVC one does work, I would expect it to be the other way around. Gotta chase some UHD AVC video files on Google...
Edit: I found another place where to download Crowd-Run-2160p-UHD-CRF22-x264-CtrlHD.mkv, and it's working fine here with the latest beta on Win7 64-bit.
Edit 2: tested with Win8.1 64-bit without issues as well.
